Upcoming Violin Events Southern California

Curated violin-focused events across the region — major halls, conservatory recitals, chamber music, and youth orchestra concerts.

Southern California supports one of the most active violin communities in the country. Events here are individually selected and verified from official organization pages. The mix is intentional: we include the big-hall orchestral programs alongside school recitals and youth orchestra finales, because that full range is what violin life in this region actually looks like. Each listing links directly to the presenting organization.

  • 🎶
Official CYO pages list this as the closing Summer Workshop concert for Prelude, Intermezzo, Intermediate, Chamber, and Wind Ensemble, but do not publish detailed repertoire.
  • 🎫
The same official page also lists a July 18 audition plus early-September retreat and season-start dates, but no separate ticketing or RSVP flow for concert attendees.

A mid-July workshop showcase still clearly posted on CYO’s official Concerts and Events page, with next-season audition and retreat dates now live alongside it.

Data note: The active maintenance window for this pass is July 17 – September 14, 2026 (inclusive). This update rechecked direct official pages at San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra, Ontario Youth Symphony, Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, Orange County Youth Symphony, San Diego Youth Symphony, Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles, Riverside Arts Academy's Riverside Youth Orchestra page, University of Redlands' Redlands Youth Symphony page, and San Bernardino Symphony Youth Orchestras. San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra's July 17 Summer Workshop concert remains the clearest in-window public youth-orchestra listing. Ontario Youth Symphony's official homepage still advertises an August 5 Summer 2026 concert, but its public Summer 2026 copy still conflicts between June 24-July 29 and June 17-August 5 session ranges and still omits dependable venue detail, so it remains below the bar for a homepage add. Los Angeles Youth Orchestra's homepage still centers an April 20 concert archive and August 22-23 auditions rather than a current in-window public performance, and Redlands' official youth-symphony page still lists August 18, 20, and 25 auditions plus a September 1 rehearsal restart but no public concert listing. The other official overview pages checked in this pass for Orange County Youth Symphony, San Diego Youth Symphony, Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles, Riverside, and San Bernardino still did not surface a stronger in-window public concert card. Program details marked unpublished or generalized reflect what was visible on those official pages during this maintenance pass and should be rechecked in future updates.

Southern California Resources

A curated starting point for navigating violin and orchestra life across the region — not every organization that exists, but the ones most useful to know.

Major Presenters

The anchor institutions for professional orchestra and chamber music in SoCal. If a major soloist is coming to the region, it will most likely appear on one of these calendars.

Schools & Conservatories

The region's music schools and university programs are a constant source of free and low-cost performances by pre-professional and advanced student players. Their event calendars are worth checking regularly.

Shops & Luthiers

These shops carry student and professional instruments, offer bow rehairs and repairs, and can help with sizing and setup — essential services for students, parents, and working players alike. A good shop relationship is one of the most practical resources a string player can have.
